Clayton Kershaw 2014 Cy Young Award Winner

Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw was announced as the 2014 Cy Young Award winner for the National League. Kershaw dominated throughout the regular season. He received 30 first place votes and was a unanimous decision for the Cy Young Award. Kershaw’s other Cy Young Awards have come in 2011 and in 2013. So let’s take a look at Kershaw’s record breaking season.

Kershaw led pitchers in the lowest ERA for this season and the previous three seasons. That’s four years in a row where Kershaw has dominated the opposing team. Kershaw was the pitcher the Dodgers wanted on the mound. When he pitched, the Dodgers expected to win.

Kershaw threw a no hitter this season against the Colorado Rockies on June 18, 2014. He was one error away from a perfect game (Hanley Ramirez botched a throw). He went an astounding 21-3 over the regular season. His ERA this season was 1.77. He made the All-Star team this year but did not start. Kershaw has garnered many awards throughout his career and he will continue to receive more awards if he has another season such as this one.
