Dennis Santana to the DL; Dodgers Drop Game 2 vs Braves

Less than 2 weeks after getting called up from Oklahoma City, the Dodgers placed RHP Dennis Santana on the 60-DL, retroactive to June 5th in yet another bump in the road for the injury-laden pitching staff. Daniel Corcino got the call-up from Triple-A, pitching a perfect 9th inning in Saturday night’s 5-3 loss to the Braves.

Dave Roberts said he’s hopeful Santana won’t need surgery, but it will be weeks before he picks up a ball.

Alex Wood (1-5, 4.43 ERA) took the loss on Saturday, going 4 2/3 innings giving up 9 hits, no walks and 6 strikeouts. The former All-Star has struggled this season so far, dealing with mechanical and potentially physical issues that Roberts has said are keeping Wood from being “100 percent synched up.”

Ross Stripling takes the mound Sunday as the Dodgers look to take game 3 and the series from Atlanta. Game time is 1:10 pm PST.
