Despite Plenty of Hard Hit Balls, Dodgers Fail to Score in Loss to Cubs

Loud outs – lots of them, and nothing seemed to go the Dodger’s way in the series finale against Chicago on Wednesday.

With the 4-0 loss to the Cubs, it became the Dodger’s first series loss since mid-May.

Despite a solid outing from Ross Stripling and plenty of hard contact off Cubs starter John Lester, the Dodgers were never able to capitalize, stranding 31 baserunners and going 5-35 with runners in scoring position.

Dave Roberts didn’t seem overly concerned at the loss and basically stated you can’t win them all:

“It was a fun series. Two good clubs, very evenly matched… but going into New York, we feel pretty good about ourselves.”

The Dodgers have an off day tomorrow and take on the Mets in New York Friday and over the weekend.

In injury news, Chris Taylor left the game with hamstring tightness but is expected to be in the lineup on Friday. Chase Utley is slated for activation on Friday, and Clayton Kershaw is expected to make a rehab start in Triple-A OKC on Saturday.

Game time Friday in New York is 4:10 pm, PST.
