Dodger News: Dodgers Reclaim Nick Nastrini in Roster Shuffle Ahead of All-Star Break
Once a top-10 prospect in the Dodgers system, Nick Nastrini returns to Los Angeles after being claimed off waivers. The move comes as the club looks to end a seven-game losing streak heading into the All-Star break.

On Friday, the Los Angeles Dodgers made a pair of roster moves, reclaiming right-hander Nick Nastrini off waivers and designating fellow right-hander Noah Davis for assignment.
Nastrini, once a promising prospect in the Dodgers’ farm system, returns to the organization that originally drafted him in the fourth round of the 2021 MLB Draft. He was ranked as the team’s No. 10 prospect before being traded to the Chicago White Sox in the 2023 deal that brought Lance Lynn and Joe Kelly to Los Angeles.
Although never considered an elite prospect, Nastrini carried significant value at the time of the trade due to his high strikeout upside. His 2025 season, however, has been a struggle. Over 46 innings in the minor leagues, he owns a 7.58 ERA and has had difficulty finding consistency on the mound.
While fans shouldn’t expect to see Nastrini in a big-league game anytime soon, there may still be hope for the 25-year-old. The Dodgers’ renowned player development system aims to retool the right-hander and potentially turn him into a serviceable arm for the future.
As for the big-league club, the Dodgers are currently struggling. Friday’s loss marked their seventh straight defeat, and they’ll aim to salvage the final game of their series against the Giants on Sunday. The All-Star break runs from July 11 to 15, giving the team a much-needed reset before the second half of the season.
