Dodgers Analysis: Where the 40-Man Roster Stands as of November 5th
Tomorrow will be a busy day for the Dodgers 40-man roster

LOS ANGELES, CA—Tomorrow is set to be a busy day for the Los Angeles Dodgers’ 40-man roster as multiple moves will/must be made.
First, tomorrow is the final day for teams and players to decide on player, club, and mutual options, which will change the free agent landscape.
Tomorrow, all players that are currently on the 60-day Injured list will also be “activated” and re-added to the active 40-man roster.
Then each club will have until November 12th to decide which Rule-5 eligible players they’ll add to the 40-man roster for protection.
Club Options
The Dodgers have two players eligible for club options this offseason. One for veteran third baseman Max Muncy (1-year, $10 million) and another for left-hander Alex Vesia (1-year, $3.65 million) or a $50,000 buyout, which would put him in line for his final year of arbitration with the club.
All option decisions must be made by Thursday, the fifth day after the World Series, but it’s expected that the Dodgers will pick up both options before the deadline.
Player Options
Unlike last offseason, the Dodgers do not have any players eligible for player options this season.
Qualifying Offer
The Dodgers don’t have any players that would require the rumored $22 million qualifying offer in order to protect themselves in receiving some sort of return if any of their seven free agents depart.
The qualifying offer was introduced in MLB free agency in 2012 and continued to be part of the collective bargaining agreement for the 2022-2026 seasons, as negotiated by the league and the Players Association.
The precise amount for the 2026 qualifying offer will be determined in October. It is calculated by averaging the salaries of the league’s top 125 highest-paid players.
Last year’s offer was $21.05 million, and the Dodgers only extended it to outfielder Teoscar Hernández, who declined it before re-signing with the team later that winter.

60-Day Injured List Players (8)
Starting tomorrow, the Dodgers must activate all players from the 60-day injured list and re-add them to the 40-man roster.
The Dodgers have eight players set to be activated, as listed below, and the current 40-man roster sits at 32 players.
Currently, the 40-man roster is full. Vesia will remain on the roster regardless of his option status, while Muncy’s option decision needs to be finalized before free agency starts. If the Dodgers choose to exercise Muncy’s option, they will need to make a corresponding move to adjust the 40-man roster.
Players become eligible for the 60-day injured list once Spring Training starts in February.

- Gavin Stone
- Evan Phillips
- Brusdar Graterol
- Nick Frasso

Rule-5 Eligible Players
Finally, check if the team has Rule-5 eligible players. If the Dodgers wish to shield any from the December Rule-5 draft, they must include those players on the 40-man roster for protection.
