Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Walker Buehler took the mound in Oklahoma City tonight for another rehab start. Buehler was not seeing the results he was looking for in his return to the Dodgers and went offsite to Cressey Sports Performance in Florida to work on command issues after being put on the IL at the All-Star break.
Players don’t usually train and practice away from the club’s coaches during the season, the Dodgers have backed up Buehler’s decision. The idea of working at a facility outside the Dodgers’ organization was Buehler’s “and we’re supporting it,” Roberts said.

Buehler was scheduled to throw 75 pitches in his first rehab start. Things didn’t start off well for Buehler giving up a walk / 2ER / 20P / 12S / 2K.
Buehler had a decent third inning only giving up one hit and striking out one and his command looked a lot better. In the top of the fourth, Buehler’s fastball was getting hit in the strike zone giving up two more runs. Walker’s curve and breaking ball were his best pitches of the night, and his fastball was inconsistent finding the strike zone.
Buehler went 4IP / 72P / 45S / 8H / 4ER / 2BB / 3K / 4.94ERA. Buehler struggled with first pitch strikes, placement of his fastball, and overall command. I look for Buehler to have a much better rehab start if the Dodgers decide to assign him to one more. After watching Buehler’s other rehab starts in Rancho and Oklahoma, last night’s start was his best.
