LHP Jackson Ferris was part of the Chicago Cubs/Dodgers Michael Busch trade in January of this year. Ferris is assigned to The Great Lake Loons where he has shined and is the number 6 top prospect for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Ferris’s first half with the Loons was decent and you could see he was adjusting to his new environment and coaching staff. Ferris has a great mid 80’s slider that batters chase, a good mid 80’s change up, and a fastball that can miss bats in the strike zone averaging 92-95 mph and has peaked at 97. His first half of the season stats with loons: 4.68ERA / 57IP / 73SO / .228AVG / 1.40WHIP.
So far in the second half of the season, Jackson Ferris has taken it to a new level. In July alone, Ferris has gone into the sixth inning four times and the seventh inning twice. Ferris has also recorded a career high 11 strikeouts over seven scoreless innings.
Jackson’s second half stats are impressive, 1.93ERA / 32IP / 40SO / .179AVG / 0.89WHIP. In his last four starts, Ferris has a 1.04ERA / 26IP / 7BB / 31SO / .135AVG / 0.73WHIP. I would not be surprised if we see Ferris promoted to Oklahoma before the end of the season.
With the trade deadline coming up in the next few days and the Dodgers rumors of needing starting pitching. There are three pitchers I would like to see the Dodgers keep, Justin Wrobleski, River Ryan, and today’s profile player Jackson Ferris. Ferris and Wrobleski are two left-handed pitchers the Dodgers need and could start off as relivers and make spot starts when needed in the 2025 season.
