We are 27 games into the 2025 minor league season and Oklahoma City has yet to drop a series lose. The Comets set a top the PCL East with a 19-8 record and .704-win percentage. Their season started off in Sugar Land Texas where they took the series two games to one. Since then, the team has won their last four six game series they have played.
Most of last year’s team is intact with a few new additions due to trade and off-season signings. Let’s take a look at the Comets offensive leaders.
Michael Chavis has been a big part of the offense. Chavis elected free agency last November and in February of 2025 the Dodgers signed him to a minor league contract. Since signing with the Dodgers, Chavis leads the team in homeruns. Stats – 87AB / 20R / 26H / 5 doubles / 1 triple / 6HR / 16RBI / 7BB / 17SO / 1SB / .299AVG / .351OBP / .586SLG / .937OPS.
James Outman started the season in a hitting slump. His defense has never come into question as he is an above average centerfielder with good speed, strong arm, and good lateral movement. Outman’s bat has defiantly woken up. He is on 9 game hitting streak and co-leads the team with 6 homeruns, but also leads the team in strikeouts. Stats – 110AB / 15R / 27H / 7 doubles / 1 triple / 6HR / 19RBI / 8BB / 44SO / 3SB / .245AVG / .314OBP / .491SLG / .805OPS.
Alex Freeland has gotten off the hot season. The Comets have been switching his playing time at short stop and third base. Freeland has proven to an above average third baseman with his ability to track the ball and a strong arm. His offense has improved since coming up from Tulsa. His bat is a bit more consistent and is able to hit to all side of the field. Freeland sits at number four in the PCL with 25 RBI but is number two on the team in strikeouts. Stats – 110AB / 17R / 34H / 12 doubles / 2HR / 25RBI / 15BB / 38SO / 6SB / .309AVG / .382OBP / .473SLG / .855OPS.
Hyeseong Kim is the Comets super utility player. Kim has played second base, short stop, and center field. Kim was sent down to OKC to work on his hitting and boy how he has improved. Kim leads the team in stolen bases and runs but is just behind Freeland in strike outs. He has proven to be a solid outfielder but has struggled a bit when playing short stop. Stats – 103AB / 20R / 26H / 8 doubles / 1 triple / 4HR / 17RBI / 7BB / 30SO / 12SB / .252AVG / .313OBP / .466SLG / .779OPS.
Ryan Ward is having another solid year with OKC. We are used to seeing Ward atop of the home run leader board, but that is not the case for this year. Ward leads the team in batting average and is two home runs shy of leading the team once again. Ward is playing the corner outfields and sharing time at first base Chavis. Stats – 100AB / 19R / 33H / 5 doubles / 5HR / 18RBI / 12BB / 21SO / 4SB / .330AVG / .398OBP / .530SLG / .928OPS.
Oklahoma’s catchers have a tale of two stories. Top prospect Dalton Rushing has had a slow start to year but is showing signs of having a big breakout. On the other hand, Hunter Feduccia has taken his offensive production to the next level and leads the team in OPS. Stats –
Hunter Feduccia 51AB / 14R / 17H / 5 doubles / 2 triples / 2HR / 13RBI / 10BB / 13SO / .333AVG / .435OBP / .627SLG / 1.062OPS
Dalton Rushing 68AB / 13R / 20H / 2 doubles / 1 triple / 3HR / 10RBI / 11BB / 23SO / .294AVG / .398OBP / .485SLG / .883OPS
Coach Hennessey has the team playing good fundamental baseball right now. If the offense can stay consistent, Oklahoma has a very good chance on taking back the PCL title that they won in 2023 against the Round Rock Express. .
