Dodgers Farm: Pitcher to Watch, Sterling Patick – Dodgers Prospect

The Los Angeles Dodgers continue to boast a deep farm system, and one southpaw making noise in their ranks is Sterling Patick. At 20 years old, born on June 9, 2005, Patick is a promising young pitcher who the Dodgers selected in the 18th round (550th overall) of the 2023 MLB Draft out of South Hills High School in West Covina, California.
Patick, a 6’1″, 155-pound left-handed pitcher, has shown flashes of his potential in the minor leagues. In 2024, across Complex League (CPX) and Single-A (A) levels, he pitched in 12 games (11 starts) for a combined 31.2 innings. He posted a 4.55 ERA with 31 strikeouts and 11 walks, showcasing a K/9 of 8.81 and a BB/9 of 3.13.
So far in 2025 at the Single-A level with the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, Patick has continued to develop. Through 17 games (13 starts) and 57.1 innings, he holds a 4.55 ERA with 63 strikeouts and 28 walks, reflecting a K/9 of 9.9 and a BB/9 of 4.4. He’s recorded 1 win and 4 losses this season.
Recent Recognition:
Patick’s recent performances have not gone unnoticed. He was recently named the Cal League Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season! This well-deserved recognition came after a stellar outing on July 26th against Visalia, where he threw a career-high six no-hit innings, striking out seven and walking just one in a dominant win for the Quakes.
Scouting reports highlight Patick’s fastball, which sits in the low 90s, along with a slider and cutter. While his command is still developing, his strikeout numbers and recent Player of the Week accolades indicate his growing ability to miss bats and control games.
As a relatively recent draft pick, Patick is still early in his professional journey, but his continued development and impressive weekly honors make him a pitcher to keep an eye on as he progresses through the Dodgers’ system.
