With the Los Angeles Dodgers kicking off the 2025 season with a sweep of the Chicago Cubs in the Tokyo Series. The Dodgers affiliate teams are set to open their season in one week.
Dodgers Triple-A Affiliate- Oklahoma City Comets will start their season on the road playing Houston Astros Sugar Land Space Cowboys. Game time starts at 7:05 CT on March 28th at Constellation Park in Sugar Land Texas. OKC looks to improve on their 79-71 season where they finished second in the Pacific Coast League East behind Sugar Land. The Comets will be led by top prospect Dalton Rushing and pitchers Nick Frasso, Bobby Miller, Landon Knack, and Justin Wrobleski. Hyeseong Kim will make his pro debut in Oklahoma and newly promoted Coach Scott Hennessey will lead the Comets in 2025.
Dodgers Double-A Affiliate- Tulsa Drillers open their season at home. The Drillers will host the Kansas City Royals Naturals in a three-game series on April 4th. Game time will start at 7:00pm CT at OneOK Field in Tulsa Oklahoma. Tulsa looks to improve on a disappointing 2024 season where they finished fourth in the Texas League North with a below .500 record of 63-74. Tulsa will be led by new manager Coach Eric Wedge.
Wedge will be the team’s 24th full-time manager, taking over for Scott Hennessey who was named skipper of the Oklahoma City Comets earlier this offseason. He is a former American League Manager of the Year and spent ten seasons in the majors, seven seasons with the Cleveland Indians from 2003-2009 and three with the Seattle Mariners from 2011-2013. The Drillers will have top prospect Jackson Ferris anchoring the pitchers along with Jared Karros.
Dodgers High-A Affiliate- Great Lake Loons open their season at home. The loons will start the 2025 season off hosting the Cleveland Guardians Lake County Captains in a three-game series on April 4th. Game time will start at 6:05pm ET at Dow Diamond Field in Midland Michigan. The Loons look to improve from 2024, were they finished third in the Midwest League East with 69-61 record. Coach Jair Fernandez will manage the team, this will be Fernadez second year managing the Loons.
It is unclear if top prospect Josue De Paula will return to Great Lakes or be promoted to Tulsa, but the Loons have a solid team that should make a run at coming on top of the Midwest League.
Dodgers Single-A Affiliate- Rancho Cucamonga Quakes open their season at home. The Quakes will host the Padres Lake Elsinore Storm in a three-game series on April 4th. Game time will start at 6:30pm PST at LoanMart Field in Rancho Cucamonga. The Quakes had a sub-par start to the 2024 season and made a good run in the second half of the season finishing third in California League South with 65-65 record. The Quakes will be led by Manager John Shoemaker. This will be the fourth year Shoemaker will by managing the Quakes. He has been a part of the Dodgers organization since 1977 as a player and coach and is considered to have outstanding baseball work ethic, knowledge of the game and skill in mentoring young players on the field.
The Quakes should have a solid team with Pitcher Hyun-Seok Jang returning, but there are some questions. Will top prospect Zhir Hope return to the Quakes or be moved up and will we see top prospect Emil Morales make his pro debut in Rancho in 2025?
2025 will be the last year the Quakes will be playing in LoanMart Field. The team was sold to Diamond Baseball Holdings and will be relocated to a new ballpark in the City of Ontario in 2026.
