LOS ANGELES – Earlier today, the Dodgers and actress Holly Robinson Peete hosted an event at Dodger Stadium along with the HollyRod Foundation to bring together over 30 participants in celebration of Autism Awareness Month. The workshop was dedicated towards fostering creativity, self-expression and connection among children with autism.
The event provided a sensory-friendly environment as the children explored their artistic talents using water-soluble oil pastels, building confidence and developing communication skills through engaging, hands-on activities. Lunch was provided and the group was greeted with an appearance from Dodger players Teoscar Hernández, Tony Gonsolin and Jack Dreyer. Together with the kids, the group made friendship bracelets using blue and white pony beads and letter charms.
The Hollyrod Foundation was founded in 1999 by actress Holly Robinson Peete and her husband, Rodney. The foundation focuses on raising awareness about autism and providing resources for families who have a loved one who has received an autism or Parkinson’s Disease diagnosis. The Peetes’ son, RJ, currently works in the Dodgers home clubhouse as a clubhouse attendant and received an autism diagnosis when he was 3 years old.
