ANAHEIM, CA — After Tuesday’s game against the Angels, Dodgers starter Walker Buehler reflected on his latest outing, marking another step in his comeback from Tommy John surgery. Buehler pitched five solid innings, allowing just two solo home runs, but ended up with a no-decision. “Just to be able to get through five today… it’s a building block for me,” Buehler noted, acknowledging the importance of this outing as he works his way back to peak form.

Buehler mentioned feeling comfortable on the mound despite the two home runs, attributing them to good hitters making strong contact. “Taylor hit that ball down the line… I felt fine about the throw, just… he’s a pretty good hitter with some power, and so things like that happen,” he said. Despite the minor setbacks, Buehler expressed confidence in his progress, highlighting how well the bullpen performed in covering the remaining innings.

Discussing the importance of his starts in the postseason picture, Buehler acknowledged that while his previous start wasn’t ideal, he’s beginning to see improvements, particularly in his strikeouts and overall execution. “All these little tiny boxes checked… I feel like myself and I feel like I can go and throw the ball well,” he stated, showing optimism about his readiness for future games.

Buehler also emphasized the effectiveness of his curveball, a pitch that has become a crucial part of his arsenal. He credited the pitching coaches for helping him regain his rhythm and confidence. As he looks ahead to the postseason, Buehler is focused on fine-tuning his performance, hoping to contribute to the team’s success in October. “I have a month to… put the finishing touches on how I feel as a major league starter,” Buehler said, ready to help the Dodgers in their playoff push.
