Dodgers News: Dodgers, LADF, and Baby2Baby Bring Holiday Cheer to 600 Students Impacted by Fires

LOS ANGELES — The Los Angeles Dodgers, in partnership with the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation (LADF) and Baby2Baby, hosted a heartwarming holiday event for 600 students, including those from the Pasadena Unified School District affected by the recent Eaton Fire, as well as students from the Los Angeles Unified School District and KIPP schools. The annual tradition, now in its third year, gave children a chance to meet Dodgers players, receive holiday gifts, and create lasting memories on the field.
“It’s amazing. It’s really special to see the smiles on these kids’ faces as they get a hat, a jersey, and even get to run around the field,” Dodgers infielder Tommy Edman said. “To take part in a day like this, especially for kids impacted by fires, is really meaningful.”
The event gave students an early glimpse of the holiday spirit, complete with a visit from Santa Claus. For many, it was an opportunity to step away from recent hardships and enjoy a moment of joy and normalcy. Edman, who has been actively involved in community outreach, highlighted the importance of such events. “Just being able to hang out with the kids, see their smiles as we hand out gear, and know that I can be a role model for them—it makes me want to do everything the right way,” he said.
Reflecting on the Dodgers’ recent successes, Edman also shared his excitement about the team’s back-to-back achievements. “Winning back-to-back is something special, and it’s cool to see so many kids recognizing that,” he said. “Some of them even come up and say, ‘Hey, my dad’s rooting for you guys.’ It’s really cool to see that support.”
Looking ahead to the upcoming season, Edman expressed cautious optimism. While still recovering from injury and preparing for fatherhood, he emphasized the importance of family time during the holidays. “Sleep is overrated, but mostly it’s about hanging out at home and spending time with family,” he said.
Edman also praised the Dodgers’ offseason moves, including the signing of Edwin Diaz. “We’re fired up,” he said. “He’s been one of the toughest pitchers to face, so it’s exciting to see him join our team and bring that energy to Dodger Stadium.”
Through events like this and his involvement with the community, Edman exemplifies the Dodgers’ commitment to making a positive impact beyond the field, bringing joy, hope, and inspiration to children who need it most.
