LOS ANGELES, CA — Dodgers pitcher Jack Flaherty addressed the media after the team’s 3-2 loss to the Orioles on Tuesday night, where he gave up two home runs and sustained an apparent injury in the fifth inning. Flaherty took a line drive off the wrist of his pitching hand, raising concerns about his ability to continue in the game.
When asked about his wrist, Flaherty said, “It feels pretty good right now, and we’ll see how it is tomorrow.” He indicated that further imaging might be needed but expressed optimism about his recovery.
Reflecting on his performance, Flaherty noted that despite giving up two homers, he felt good on the mound. “I wouldn’t have kept pitching if things felt bad,” he mentioned, emphasizing his commitment to staying in the game as long as he felt capable. He acknowledged wanting two pitches back but credited the Orioles for capitalizing on those mistakes. “You want to fill up the zone, attack, but also make a better pitch,” Flaherty said, reflecting on his strategy.
Despite the injury scare, Flaherty managed to finish the sixth inning without further issues. The Dodgers and their fans will be keeping a close eye on his condition heading into their next game.
