MILWAUKEE, WI — Gavin Stone delivered a strong performance for the Dodgers in their win against the Milwaukee Brewers, pitching five solid innings and allowing just one run. Reflecting on his success, Stone credited his approach, saying, “I think just trying to stay ahead, get ahead and stay ahead early, and just be on the attack the whole time. That was really the focus.”
Stone acknowledged how he adapted to the Brewers’ aggressive approach at the plate, taking advantage of it to make effective pitches early in the count. He remarked, “I was just making good pitches early in the count, really what I was trying to do and get them to swing early.”
Stone also highlighted the role of catcher Will Smith in calling the game, emphasizing the importance of their collaboration. “Willie did a great job back there calling pitches,” he said.
With the Dodgers’ offense providing early run support, Stone was able to pitch with confidence, helping him execute his game plan effectively. Stone downplayed any pressure from recent struggles, focusing instead on the long season ahead. “You can’t get too high, can’t get too low, but yeah, to come out here and get a win for the club was cool.”
