MILWAUKEE, WI — Dodgers catcher Will Smith played a crucial role in the team’s 7-2 victory over the Brewers on Tuesday night, going 3-for-4 with a home run. The homer, his first in over a month, marked a welcome return to form after nearly a month of struggles at the plate.
Smith attributed his success to several small adjustments made during his daily work. “I think just some little adjustments with where my hands were getting, syncing everything up, connecting, and using the ground better,” Smith explained. “It wasn’t far off, but it’s a hard game, so being off a little bit makes it tough.”
The recent slump had been frustrating for Smith, who isn’t accustomed to extended struggles. “It’s always frustrating when you’re struggling, but you just continue to show up every day, go out there, try to help the team win, and keep working in the cage,” he said.
On Tuesday, Smith showed improvement, particularly against inside fastballs, an area where he hadn’t been hitting well recently. “I just got in the right positions tonight,” he noted.
Reflecting on the Dodgers’ recent success, Smith emphasized the team’s all-around performance. “We’re playing good baseball—offense putting together good at-bats, pitchers filling up the zone, and playing good defense. We’re just trying to keep it going.”
