MILWAUKEE, WI — Dodgers pitcher Landon Knack earned his first big league save in Tuesday’s win against the Brewers, pitching the final four innings to secure the victory. Reflecting on the achievement, Knack emphasized the importance of supporting his fellow bullpen members. “It feels good anytime you can kind of pick up those guys a little bit, ’cause you know they throw a lot of innings down there. They’re workhorses all year, so being able to give them a little bit of a breather, it’s a good feeling,” Knack said.
Despite the challenge of being a long-relief pitcher, Knack embraced his role, knowing it was essential for the team’s success. “It’s a role that’s needed sometimes, to be the long relief guy and come in and pick them up,” he explained. Knack added that manager Dave Roberts encouraged him to keep going inning after inning. “He told me to keep going every time, and I knew my role was to be the long-relief guy, so I was ready for it.”
Knack plans to commemorate the milestone by placing the baseball from his first career save on his shelf, right next to the ball from his first win. “That thing’s going on my shelf,” Knack said proudly.
