Dodgers News: Landon Knack Embracing Consistency and Clubhouse Chemistry in Dodgers Rotation

In a season where the Dodgers’ pitching depth continues to be tested, right-hander Landon Knack has quietly emerged as a reliable presence. After a strong outing against the Miami Marlins, Knack spoke with Dodgers reporter Kirsten Watson about what’s been clicking for him and how experience, mindset, and chemistry have all played a role in his recent success.
“Everything was just kind of going,” Knack said with a calm confidence. “We got to throw a lot more. Locked in. Was kind of back to true being me.”
For Knack, “being me” means returning to the fundamentals: staying directional with his delivery, focusing on north-south movement rather than spinning off the mound. That shift helped sharpen his command against Miami.
“I was able to keep kind of everything over the plate, just kind of down,” he said. “And being able to really get the curveball in there early the changeups, both were working really well. And then just kind of fastball location was really spot on.”
That kind of feeling didn’t come overnight. Knack reflected on lessons learned from last year’s ups and downs, lessons about routine, preparation, and what it takes to stay ready at the highest level.
“After last year, I kind of learned a lot about how to deal with that up and down,” he admitted. “What you need to take care of between outings just to try to be as consistent as possible, regardless of whether you’re there or here.”
That in-between time, those bullpen sessions, film study, and mental resets, Knack is learning how to maximize all of it.
“Really lock in any piece that I’m missing,” he said. “Whether it’s getting my slider back going, getting the throw back north-south… making sure that’s a real priority between outings.”
Consistency is the focus, but support from teammates isn’t far behind.
“It’s huge, yeah,” Knack said, when asked about the clubhouse vibe. “Having such a good group of guys here that does such a good job of supporting each other and having each other’s backs.”
He’s not alone on this ride, either. Fellow pitchers Ben Casparius, Jack Dreyer, and Matt Sauer have shared the journey from the farm system to the big stage. That sense of familiarity is grounding.
“Being able to share this with them it’s special,” Knack said.
For the Dodgers, that kind of mentality, steady, process-driven, and rooted in the team, is exactly what they’ll need as the season continues. And for Knack, the more he leans into being himself, the more it looks like he belongs.
