LOS ANGELES, CA — In Tuesday’s game against the Giants, rookie pitcher Landon Knack demonstrated his potential, completing five innings and allowing just one run. After the game, Knack shared insights into his performance and how he navigated through the outing.
Reflecting on the game, Knack acknowledged the challenges he faced but also his ability to adapt. “I felt like I was a little off early in counts with off-speed pitches,” he said. “I need to land it a little bit more early, but we were making pitches when we had to. My curveball especially felt really, really good today. For the most part, we were just kind of keeping them in between the entire time and doing a good job mixing.”
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts had expressed a desire to see Knack pitch deeper into the game, a challenge the rookie took in stride. “You kind of have to trust the fact that we’ve put in all this work,” Knack explained. “The conditioning is there to be able to pitch deep in games, even up to 100 pitches. It’s about trusting that and continuing to go all out the entire way.”
Knack also shared what he’s proudest of this season. “I feel like I’ve just kind of shown that my stuff plays here. I’ve done a good job mixing and keeping people in between, showing that I have four pitches that I can throw for strikes and continue to use all four as weapons.”
The camaraderie among the young pitchers on the team has added to the experience. “It’s fun to see the young guys come up and step up,” Knack said. “It’s been a great experience.”
On a lighter note, Knack’s walk-up song choice added some levity to the game. “My fiancée and niece chose ‘Milkshake’ today,” he laughed. “It might have to stay. We actually got a little deeper in there, so maybe we do have to keep it.”
