LOS ANGELES, CA — Gavin Lux delivered a standout performance against Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher and likely Rookie of the Year, Paul Skenes, driving in three of the Dodgers’ four runs. Lux acknowledged the challenge of facing a talent like Skenes, saying, “He’s got really good stuff, man. There’s a reason why he’s so electric. In those situations with guys on base, you don’t want to wait around and get to two strikes because you’ve got to battle with three really good pitches.”

Lux emphasized the extra adrenaline that comes with facing a top-tier pitcher like Skenes. “Every at-bat’s important, whether it’s against a middle-of-the-road guy or someone like Skenes,” Lux remarked. “But yeah, I think there’s a little extra something there for sure.”

Since moving up in the lineup, Lux has seized opportunities to drive in runs, enjoying his temporary role in the middle of the order. “I don’t get to hit third or fourth too much, but just getting some opportunities with guys on base and trying to take advantage of that is fun.”

Reflecting on his growth since first facing Skenes in June, Lux noted, “I think I’m just in a better frame of mind, more confident, and with more at-bats under my belt.”
