LOS ANGELES, CA — Dodgers rookie outfielder Andy Pages stepped up in a big way on Saturday night, filling in for the injured Teoscar Hernandez in the lineup and delivering a crucial two-run homer in the first inning of the Dodgers’ 7-2 win over the Cleveland Guardians. Pages’ home run set the tone for the game, helping the Dodgers secure the victory and maintain their momentum.
After the game, Pages reflected on how his time in Triple-A prepared him for this moment. Speaking in Spanish, he said, “I’ve been working with the coaches and staying calm. It’s about maintaining that focus and staying ready for any opportunity.” He emphasized how his ability to replicate the same adjustments he made in Triple-A has helped him perform at the major league level.
When asked about regaining his confidence after returning from the minors, Pages credited his approach at the plate and support from those around him. “It helps when I don’t overthink things. I’ve talked with people outside of baseball who know me well, and their advice has helped me a lot,” he shared.
Although primarily a right fielder and center fielder, Pages acknowledged that playing in left field comes with its challenges. “It’s a little strange because I haven’t played much there. The angle is different, but I just focus on catching the ball, and that’s it,” he admitted with a smile.
Pages’ calm demeanor and adaptability have made him a valuable asset to the Dodgers, especially as they deal with key injuries. His contributions on both offense and defense have been pivotal, and his ability to stay ready for any opportunity is a testament to his work ethic.
