LOS ANGELES, CA — In a postgame interview following the Los Angeles Dodgers’ thrilling 4-3 victory over the San Diego Padres, Shohei Ohtani shared his thoughts on the game and his emotions during key moments. Ohtani, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, including the game-winning hit in the bottom of the sixth inning, reflected on the intensity of the game and the importance of the win as the team continues its push toward the playoffs.

Speaking about his at-bats, Ohtani acknowledged the significance of being in high-pressure situations, especially with scoring opportunities. “In each at-bat, I had a chance to make a difference,” Ohtani said. “I couldn’t help but feel emotional and happy when those moments came up.” He emphasized that the playoff atmosphere surrounding the game has been energizing not only for him but also for the entire team. “The fans’ energy, combined with the team’s focus, really helps us lock in during these critical moments,” he added.

Ohtani also talked about maintaining balance during such pivotal situations. While it’s important to want to deliver results, he noted that getting too caught up in the moment can be detrimental. “It’s essential to stay composed. If I just focus on having a good at-bat, the results will follow. I try to concentrate solely on each plate appearance.”

Reflecting on his current hitting form, Ohtani mentioned feeling increasingly confident with each passing year. “I think my hitting skills have improved as I’ve gained experience. Physically, I’m stronger, and everything is starting to come together,” he said. Although he tries not to think too much when he steps into the batter’s box, Ohtani believes that staying focused on the moment is key to his success.

During the interview, Ohtani was also asked about tying Ichiro Suzuki’s record for stolen bases by a Japanese player. “Ichiro is a player I’ve always admired, but matching his steals total doesn’t change anything for me. I’ll continue to do my best for the team and contribute to our victories.”

Ohtani closed by mentioning the possibility of celebrating with the home fans. “If we can clinch and celebrate at home, it will be something truly special,” he said, hinting at the team’s collective focus on securing a postseason berth.

The win, anchored by Ohtani’s clutch performance, brings the Dodgers one step closer to their playoff aspirations, and with Ohtani leading the charge, the team’s momentum shows no signs of slowing down.
