ANAHEIM, CA — Shohei Ohtani made an emotional return to Angel Stadium on Tuesday, this time as a member of the Los Angeles Dodgers. In his first game back at the ballpark where his MLB career began, Ohtani played a key role in the Dodgers’ victory, starting the scoring with a triple that tied the game. Later, in the top of the tenth inning, he was intentionally walked, setting the stage for Mookie Betts to deliver a game-winning home run.

Reflecting on the experience of returning to Anaheim, Ohtani expressed deep gratitude. “It was special to be back where my career started,” he said. “I felt a lot of strong emotions today, and I’m thankful for the warm welcome from the fans.” Despite being on the opposing team, the reception from the Angels’ crowd was a poignant moment for Ohtani, who acknowledged the significance of playing in front of his former home crowd.

When asked about the decision to intentionally walk him in the tenth inning, Ohtani praised his teammate Betts for coming through in the clutch. “He really came through in a big way. As a competitor, it’s tough, but I understand the strategy. I’m just glad we were able to win,” Ohtani remarked, reflecting on the game’s dramatic finish.

Ohtani also spoke about the Dodgers’ current momentum as they push towards the postseason. “We’ve had some tough times, but we’re making the most of our opportunities,” he said. “It’s the final stretch of the season, and we’re all committed to giving it everything we’ve got.”

Returning to Angel Stadium was a significant moment for Ohtani, and while the game had its challenges, his focus remains on helping the Dodgers finish the season strong and make a deep postseason run.
