Dodgers Interview: Teoscar on his 30th home run, friendly competition with Shohei

LOS ANGELES, CA — Dodgers outfielder Teoscar Hernández delivered a game-changing solo home run on Friday night, putting the Dodgers ahead for good in their victory. The blast marked his 30th home run of the season, making it the second time in his career he has reached this milestone. In a postgame interview, Hernández expressed his excitement about his performance and his overall experience with the Dodgers this year.

“It’s been great, no complaints. I’ve been having a lot of fun and learning a lot from this group. I’m excited to be here,” Hernández shared. He emphasized the thrill of performing at Dodger Stadium, where 19 of his 30 home runs have come this season. “It’s the best thing, especially because we’re fighting to get into the playoffs and for the division.”

Hernández has been in fine form since returning from a brief injury after being hit by a pitch, and he credited his success to staying focused on the basics. “I’m just trying not to do too much, and that’s been working for me the whole season,” he explained.

When asked about the dynamic between him and teammate Shohei Ohtani, Hernández chuckled at the idea of a home run competition. “Not really, but it’s great being teammates with him, especially with the things he’s been doing this year.”

Reflecting on reaching 30 homers, Hernández noted that staying healthy has been key to his improved performance this season. “This year, I’ve been more healthy, and things have been going great for me.”

A lifelong baseball fan, Webb has been going to Dodger games since he moved to Los Angeles in 1987. His favorite memory was sitting in an apartment in October 1988 when Gibby went yard against Eckersley in the World Series. Which came about ten minutes after he declared “this game is over!” Hopefully, his baseball acumen has improved since then. He has been writing for Dodgersbeat since 2020.
