Dodgers News: A Manga-tastic giveaway set for “One Piece Night”

LOS ANGELES — Luffy fanatics, the Dodgers got you covered. Get ready to swap your ballcaps for straw hats—ONE PIECE Night is coming to Dodger Stadium!
On Thursday, July 3, when the Dodgers take on the Chicago White Sox at 7:10 p.m., the Boys in Blue will team up with legendary anime studio Toei Animation for a one-of-a-kind celebration of the global anime phenomenon ONE PIECE. Whether you’re a lifelong member of the Straw Hat Pirates crew or just curious about all the hype, this night promises to be a grand adventure.
Based on the wildly popular manga by Eiichiro Oda, ONE PIECE has been setting sail in the hearts of fans worldwide since 1999. Over the past 25 years, the series has racked up more than 1,000 episodes, 15 movies, and countless spin-offs—from video games to trading cards. And now, it’s docking right here in Los Angeles for a night of anime-infused baseball.
“We’re thrilled to partner with the Los Angeles Dodgers to bring the global hit series ONE PIECE to Dodger Stadium,” said Lisa Yamatoya of Toei Animation. “We invite fans to join us for ONE PIECE Night, which will offer a truly memorable, one-of-a-kind entertainment experience.”
So what’s on deck?
- A Straw Hat Giveaway! The first 40,000 fans through the gates will score a limited-edition ONE PIECE-themed co-branded straw hat. Yes, the iconic headgear of Monkey D. Luffy himself—perfect for shielding the sun while catching homers in the left field pavilion.
- Activations Around the Stadium. Expect themed surprises, photo ops, and easter eggs for the devoted ONE PIECE fans among us. (Will someone be cosplaying as Zoro in a Dodgers jersey? Fingers crossed.)
- A Drone Show to End the Night. After the final out, the sky above Dodger Stadium will light up with a spectacular drone show, featuring fan-favorite characters from the ONE PIECE universe. (We don’t know exactly what it’ll look like, but if the Thousand Sunny sails through the sky, we might just cry.)
Lon Rosen, the Dodgers’ Executive VP & CMO, summed it up best: “It’s great to showcase ONE PIECE, one of the most popular franchises in the world, to the best fan base in the world.”
Anime. Baseball. Fireworks (well, drones). What more could you ask for?
Mark your calendars, bring your nakama, and get ready to cheer for Luffy and the Dodgers in the same breath. ONE PIECE Night is July 3, and it’s going to be legendary.
