Dodgers News: Emmet Sheehan Activated; Sauer to Triple‑A

The Los Angeles Dodgers officially reinstated right‑hander Emmet Sheehan from the 60‑day injured list following his Tommy John surgery in May 2024. With the move, the 40‑man roster is once again full.
The Dodgers optioned reliever Matt Sauer to Triple‑A Oklahoma City to balance the active roster. Sauer had been recalled on June 10 for his fourth MLB stint this season and had thrown 27.2 innings with a 6.18 ERA across those appearances.
Sheehan is poised to make his 2025 debut as the Dodgers look to reinforce their rotation, while Sauer heads back to the minors with only one more option remaining before waiver exposure.
Sheehan has had moments of brilliance before his career was derailed by the TJ surgery. In his first three starts in June of 2023, he posted a 2.65 ERA, including six no-hit innings against the Giants in an electric big league debut. Things were less consistent as the summer wore on, but he did finish the year strong with a 3.68 ERA across five starts in September.
The rehabbed Sheehan has come into 2025 looking a little more buffed up, a little more durable than in his pre-Tommy-John days. Hopefully, the extra muscle mass will allow him to give quality innings for the team as it moves into the second half of the season.
