LOS ANGELES — Dodger fans will always have a soft spot for former sideline reporter Alanna Rizzo. She gave us insights into the team for some of the best years in the history of the franchise. But more than that, she humanized the game for fans, getting great reactions in pre and post game interviews with our favorite players.

Though she has moved on from her job at SportsNet LA, she still is a part of the game, serving cohost (or wrangler if you will) for Christopher “Mad Dog” Russo on MLB network’s High Heat. Interviewing some of baseball’s biggest talents (in English and Spanish, no less), Rizzo continues to prove she has some of the best chops in the business.

And those of us who follow Alanna at all know that while she is passionate about baseball, she is just as committed to her avocation as an advocate for animals. She started a foundation dedicated to helping dogs in need, the Guidry’s Guardian Foundation. Named after her own beloved pooch, Guidry’s Guardian has a three-pronged mission. First, to raise awareness about the plight of dogs in need. Second, to find and rescue dogs from possible death in high-kill shelters. And finally, to rehabilitate these dogs and make sure they find a forever home with a loving family.

And now, Alanna’s mission is jumping into the virtual space. Today on Twitter, she announced that Guidry’s Guardian would be soon offering an NFT to aid in their fundraising efforts. An NFT, or non-fungible token, is basically a digital asset that cannot be replicated. Unlike, say a digital photo which can be copied an infinite number of times and you would still have the same thing. Not so with an NFT. They are unique, which is their main appeal. Don’t ask me anything more about it. I barely know how my can opener works.

I personally vote for Furry Guidry

Anyway, in her tweet, Alanna reports that these NFTs will be available in a couple of months, and will be offered with an initial lot of 3,333 pieces (or tokens or whatever they are). And as the tweet states, fully 55% of the profits from the sale of these NFTs will benefit the Guidry’s Guardian Foundation. No word as to the asking price on these NFTs, but I would imagine they will cost a bitcoin or two to obtain. Still, it’s for a worthy cause, and I’m sure Dodger fans will show up bigtime for Alanna and her great charity.

If you would like to donate to the Guidry’s Guardian Foundation directly, you can do it the old-fashioned way, and whip out your credit card at the organization’s website.

Good luck with the launch, Alanna. And we’ll see you around the ballpark!
