Dodgers News: Alex Vesia Not Placed on Family Medical Emergency List
It's looking like Alex Vesia won't be available for the World Series

TORONTO—The Los Angeles Dodgers formally announced their 26-man roster for the 2025 World Series against the Toronto Blue Jays which kicks off tonight at the Rogers Centre.
However, as expected from yesterday’s news, left-handed pitcher Alex Vesia is not among the 12 pitchers on the roster; instead, he and right-hander Ben Casparius have been replaced by Will Klein and Edgardo Henriquez.
The Dodgers announced on Thursday that Vesia was absent from the team to be with his wife, Kayla, due to a “deeply personal family matter.” Shortly afterward, manager Dave Roberts told reporters that the Dodgers were unsure about Vesia’s availability for the World Series.
“I think right now, we’re in the mode of trying to understand the process, the rules, a way that we could sort of try to navigate the roster,” Roberts said. “Honestly, I think we’re just going day-to-day with really no expectations.”
Since Vesia is no longer on the roster, the only logical way he could be re-added is if the Dodgers put him on the Family Medical Emergency List.
Going on MLB’s Family Medical Emergency List requires a player to miss at least three days, with a maximum absence of one week. If the Dodgers had selected that option, Vesia would have been able to rejoin the team starting from Game Three at Dodger Stadium.
Considering the family’s serious situation, it’s understandable that the Dodgers chose not to specify a timeline for Vesia.
Since that option is no longer available, Vesia can only join the Dodgers roster if he replaces an injured player.
