Dodgers News: Blake Snell Placed on Paternity List; Dodgers Reinstate Kirby Yates to Bolster Bullpen

SAN DIEGO, CA – Last night’s game against the Padres saw Blake Snell pitch seven innings in the Dodgers’ 2-1 loss. He seemingly left the game quickly to be with his wife, who was in labor. On Saturday, the Dodgers placed him on the paternity list.
In a corresponding move, the Dodgers are activating RP Kirby Yates from the IL, who will take Snell’s spot on the active roster.
Although Snell will be temporarily away from the team, the move to the paternity list will not affect his next start. According to MLB rules, he can stay on the paternity list for up to three days. The Dodgers, who activated Kirby Yates from the 15-day IL, will likely have him back in a setup role in the bullpen after missing three weeks with lower-back pain.
This season, in 31 innings with the club, Yates has posted a 4.31 ERA out of the bullpen. With the addition of Tanner Scott, who was activated on Friday, the Dodgers’ bullpen is expected to become more stable and effective with these two key arms back in action.
