ARLINGTON—The Los Angeles Dodgers’ pitching woes continue. A right-handed relief pitcher is expected to be placed on the 15-day injured list with forearm tightness.
Treinen, 36, has not appeared in a game since April 13th but was seen in yesterday’s ballgame warming up in the 9th inning before Dodgers closer Tanner Scott shut the door on a 3-0 win thanks to Max Muncy‘s defensive heroics.
The Dodgers re-signed Treinen to a 2-year, $11 million contract this winter after returning to form during the 2024 regular season and was an anchor in the bullpen in October.
Treinen had a 3.38 ERA this season in eight innings while picking up two saves. The righty will go for an MRI but is not overly concerned right now.
With a spot open on the 26-man roster, the Dodgers have decided to recall right-handed pitcher Evan Phillips from Triple-A OKC and activate him off the 15-day injured list.
Phillips has not appeared this season for the Dodgers after a PRP injection on his injured shoulder during the winter. Phillips made six appearances for the Triple-A OKC Comets, posting a 6.35 ERA in 5.2 innings while collecting nine punchouts.
According to Dodgers manager Dave Roberts, the veteran bullpen arm was set to appear in one more minor league rehab game. Still, with Treinen on the injured list, the Dodgers and Phillips were comfortable enough to appear earlier than anticipated.
