The Dodgers will be without veteran reliever Blake Treinen for the time being, as the right-hander deals with a low-grade forearm sprain. Manager Dave Roberts clarified that while initial concerns were sparked by forearm tightness, a red flag given Treinen’s injury history, recent imaging showed no significant structural issues.

Treinen will now embark on a careful rehab plan. Although he’s technically eligible to return in early May, the club is expected to monitor his progress closely before activating him.

Treinen, 36, was viewed as a vital component of the Dodgers’ bullpen heading into the year, particularly in late-inning scenarios. After a few seasons of recovering from shoulder surgery and other setbacks, his presence provided a considerable boost. Now, the bullpen must adapt once more in his absence.

Stepping into the ninth-inning role is lefty Tanner Scott, whose swing-and-miss arsenal has made him a viable option at the back end. Right-handers Evan Phillips and Kirby Yates have also been active in high-leverage situations, and the Dodgers are likely to continue mixing and matching based on matchups.

Even with Treinen sidelined, the bullpen has performed well early on, but the team will undoubtedly miss his veteran presence and ability to handle high-pressure innings.
