LOS ANGELES— Prior to tonight’s game against the Colorado Rockies on Jackie Robinson Day, Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts confirmed that right-handed pitcher Bobby Miller will start tomorrow’s series finale.

With left-handed pitcher Blake Snell placed on the 15-day Injured List and Japanese starters Roki Sasaki and Yoshinobu Yamamoto pushed back to one start per week, the Dodgers rotation needed some depth in the middle of April.

The first man up was young left-handed pitcher Justin Wrobleski, who allowed eight runs in five innings of work last week against the Washington Nationals during the Dodgers’ six-game road trip.

The game after was given to another young righty, Landon Knack, who was a bit better, giving up five runs in 4.1 innings of work in the Dodgers’ win in the series finale in D.C.

However, since Wrobleski was the corresponding move for Knack’s call-up from Triple-A OKC, the lefty will have to remain in the minors until April 24th unless due to injury.

So, with the Dodgers needing another starter and Landon Knack on the bump tonight, the Dodgers will go with right-handed pitcher Bobby Miller.

Miller, 26, had his spring delayed due to unforeseen circumstances after getting hit by a line drive off the bat of former Dodgers prospect Michael Busch on the first game of Cactus League play.

The injury would force Miller to miss the rest of spring training and would inevitably be optioned to the minor leagues to start the 2025 season.

After being arguably the best starter for the Dodgers during the 2023 season after his call-up in May, Miller was a shell of himself in his sophomore season.

Not only was Miller the worst pitcher on the Dodgers last season, he was the worst pitcher in Major League Baseball, posting a 2-4 record with an 8.52 ERA in fifty-six innings.

However, Miller will not get an opportunity to rewrite his career, hoping to prove his worth tomorrow and possibly a few more turns in the rotation if Snell is set to miss an extended period.

Miller has gotten off to a solid start this season in Triple-A, posting a 2.25 ERA in twelve innings of work. However, he has struggled with his command, issuing eleven walks while only striking out eleven hitters.

In other Dodgers news, right-fielder Teoscar Hernández is set to return to the starting lineup tomorrow after missing the last two games and dealing with a stomach bug.

Hernández is slashing .281/.309/.563 with a .872 OPS this season and has been one of the Dodgers’ best hitters so far this year.
