Dodgers News: Brock Stewart’s Return Delayed

It doesn't sound like we’ll see Stewart this week in Arizona...

PHOENIX, AZ—It has been a long season for the Los Angeles Dodgers’ bullpen, but with the team entering the final week of the 2025 regular season, multiple reinforcements were expected.

While right-hander Roki Sasaki is expected to be activated off the 60-day injured list and join the Dodgers’ bullpen tonight against the Arizona Diamondbacks, the same cannot be said about righty Brock Stewart.

While Stewart did travel with the team to Arizona, the right-hander was not immediately activated as some might have thought, and prior to yesterday’s game, Stewart was seen in the outfield throwing a flat ground session with an athletic trainer and Dodgers General Manager Brandon Gomes.

During Dodgers manager Dave Roberts‘ media scrum, the skipper elaborated on Stewart’s status for the final six days of the regular season, a statement that did not give the most reassuring look.

“Brock, we’re still kind of day-to-day right now,” Roberts said.

Roberts did not specify when asked if Stewart is experiencing additional issues with his right shoulder.

“Just kind of workload, kind of making sure he feels good. Just some conversations with Brock, making sure he’s put in a position to feel good if he is activated,” Roberts said. “That’s no guarantee, so we feel just giving an extra day, we’ll have a little more information.”

Despite being the headline arm the Dodgers acquired at this year’s trade deadline, Stewart has just made four appearances with the team this season, allowing two runs in just 3.2 innings pitched.

Suppose Stewart is expected to miss even more time, or possibly the entire postseason. In that case, the Dodgers do have a few internal options, such as right-handers Ben Casparius or Kyle Hurt, who are currently in Triple-A.
