After a long, grueling 162-game regular season and another month of October baseball, the offseason is a time for plenty of players to rest or have surgery to fix a nagging injury.
Such has been the case with the Los Angeles Dodgers, as multiple players, such as veteran lefty Clayton Kershaw, have already had offseason surgery. Well you can now add right-handed relief pitcher Brusdar Graterol to that list as he announced on Twitter/X that he underwent successful offseason shoulder surgery.
As mentioned in the post, it was a frustrating year for the 26-year-old righty, who has been plagued with multiple injuries going back to the start of spring training in February.
Graterol started the season on the 15-day injured list due to a shoulder and hip injury and would not make his 2024 regular season debut until early August. However, it would be short-lived as a hamstring injury suffered in the same week would sideline the righty for another few weeks.
Graterol continued to pitch through the pain and inevitably made the Dodgers’ 26-man World Series roster, pitching multiple key innings in the Dodgers’ series win in five games.
Despite the surgery, the Dodgers still expect Graterol to make an impact during the second half of the 2025 season. Graterol finished the season with a 2.45 ERA in 7.1 innings after having a career-best 1.20 ERA in 2023.
