Prior to Wednesday’s game against the Philadelphia Phillies Dodgers, MLB.com’s Juan Toribio asked manager Dave Roberts about Walker Buehler‘s time on the injured list.
Dave’s answer shocked the dozens of reporters in the room, stating the Buehler is not working directly with the team in their Arizona or minor league facilities but is in a private complex in Florida.
The complex in question, thanks to the Athletics Fabian Ardaya, is Cressey Sports Performance.
Dave Roberts elaborated that he has yet to speak directly with Walker Buehler. When asked if he had seen any videos or reports about the right-handed pitcher’s progress, he stated he had not seen anything directly.
The situation is even more jarring when combined with today’s news of right-handed pitcher Bobby Miller‘s demotion to Triple-A OKC, as Miller will be working one-on-one with minor league pitching coordinator Rob Hill.
Buehler, who should be in a similar situation, has taken matters into his own hands as the idea of being sent elsewhere to work through his problems was his idea.
Roberts stated that he would talk with Buehler in the coming days and that, from what he has heard, Buehler has made strides in fixing whatever is ailing him.
