Dodgers News: Chuckie Robinson Joins Dodgers in San Francisco as Will Smith’s Status Looms

SAN FRANCISCO, CA—Catcher Chuckie Robinson was spotted with the Dodgers in San Francisco on Saturday, though the team has not yet announced an official roster move.

The timing raises questions about the health of starting catcher Will Smith, who is still dealing with a bone bruise in his hand. Dave Roberts acknowledged Friday that the Dodgers were considering an IL stint for Smith, noting that a week of rest might do him some good.

Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times also reported that Robinson was with the team in San Francisco, adding to the expectation that a move could be coming soon.

It’s now been 10 days since Smith was first injured, and with Robinson in town, it appears the Dodgers are preparing in case they need coverage behind the plate.

No decision has been announced yet, but Robinson’s presence could be the first sign the team is ready to act.
