ARLINGTON— Prior to the Dodgers’ crushing 4-3 walk-off loss to the Texas Rangers off a two-run home run by Texas Rangers slugger Adolis García, the Dodgers were given an update on Clayton Kershaw’s next rehab start.
The veteran lefty confirmed in Arlington, Texas, today that he would be making his second rehab start on Tuesday. However, the team is undecided whether he’ll be in Double-A Tulsa or Triple-A OKC.
Kershaw, 37, was sharp and efficient in his return to the mound, tossing three scoreless innings on thirty pitches (twenty-two strikes) while inducing a first-inning double play and collecting two strikeouts.
Despite the velocity of Kershaw’s fastball, which was sitting around 87.5 mph, the lefty was able to weave his way out of trouble, getting quick at-bats and weak contact.
Before the start of the 2025 regular season in Tokyo, Japan, the Dodgers transferred Kershaw to the 60-day Injured List to make room on the 40-man roster, making the lefty ineligible to return until May 17th.
Kershaw will need around five weeks to build up his arm and complete rehab, which aligns with that date. In an interview with Foul Territory last month, Kershaw himself even stated that a June return would be on track.
If Kershaw makes the appearance in Triple-A, it will be an away game at the Salt Lake Bees, the Los Angeles Angels’ Triple-A affiliate. The weather will be sunny and 65 degrees.
If the start is with Double-A Tulsa, it’ll be an away game against the Northwest Arkansas Naturals, the Double-A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals. The weather will be sunny and 76 degrees.
