Dodgers News: Dave Roberts: Max Muncy Expected to Be Fine After Scary HBP

SAN FRANCISCO, CA—Dodgers fans held their breath Saturday for a second consecutive day when Max Muncy was hit in the head by a pitch against the Giants. He stayed in the game at first but was later replaced, and manager Dave Roberts explained why.

“I took him out just to be safe,” Roberts said. “He’ll get essentially a day and a half. He’ll be down tomorrow, which is a scheduled day off. It was a scary moment, but he came out of it fine. At that point in time, I just felt it was best to cut his night short.”

Roberts added that the team will continue to keep an eye on him but doesn’t expect any issues. “We’ll probably check on him, how he sleeps, but I think he’s going to be fine. We’ll keep eyes on him.”

The Dodgers had already scheduled a day off Sunday for Muncy, giving Muncy extra time to recover before the team returns to action Monday at Dodger Stadium.
