LOS ANGELES, CA—With the Phillies in town for a big series at Dodger Stadium, the conversation naturally turned to playoff seeding. Philadelphia currently holds the No. 2 spot in the National League, which would secure them a first-round bye in October.
Asked how important the second seed is, manager Dave Roberts didn’t try to put extra weight on it.
“We’re going to try to win as many games as we can,” Roberts said. “And where it falls out is where it falls out. I don’t even think it matters for me to say how important it is or how not valuable. I just want to win games and see where it all plays out.”
As of this post, the Dodgers trail the Phillies by 5.5 games. The two teams open a big three-game series at Dodger Stadium today, with plenty on the line as the postseason picture takes shape.
