LOS ANGELES, CA—We were there when Dave Roberts talked about his bullpen after the last two nights, and you could tell how much the outings meant to him and the team.
“It is. It really is,” Roberts said when asked if the bullpen is starting to get back on track. “The way a couple of the guys threw last night, Dryer came in and threw the ball well. So you know, with those two guys tonight, big confidence boost for all of us.”
Roberts pointed out that being able to “play a normal game and win it the way we should have won it” was exactly what the Dodgers needed. “I think we all feel really good about that,” he added.
The bullpen has been under the spotlight recently, and consistency has been the biggest question mark. A few innings doesn’t answer everything, but it’s a step in the right direction.
