Dodgers News: Davis honored with Emmy

NEW YORK — Dodgers broadcaster Joe Davis has won the Sports Emmy Award in the Outstanding Personality/Play-By-Play category at the 46th annual Sports Emmy Awards. Davis, who serves as the Dodgers’ primary play-by-play announcer, also covers MLB and NFL games on Fox, which had earned him nominations in two separate categories.
In addition to his win, Davis had also been nominated in the Outstanding Live Special – Championship Event category for his work on the 2024 World Series broadcast between the Dodgers and the New York Yankees.
The winners were announced by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences on May 20 at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Frederick P. Rose Hall in Manhattan.
Davis officially stepped into the Dodgers’ broadcast booth full-time in 2017 after the retirement of the legendary Vin Scully, who concluded his iconic 67-year tenure with the team in 2016. Scully’s unparalleled career set a high standard, but Davis has risen to the occasion and flourished in the role.
His journey with the Dodgers began in 2016, when he was hired by SportsNet LA as a secondary play-by-play voice for games not called by Scully. Since then, Davis’ work with both the Dodgers and Fox Sports has earned praise from fans and media alike, solidifying his status as one of the top voices in sports broadcasting.
Congrats, Joe! Couldn’t happen to a more deserving guy!
