Dodgers News: Dodgers Acquire Three Players in Three-Team Trade with Rays, Reds

As reported by Jeff Passan of ESPN, the Los Angeles Dodgers have been included in a three-team trade involving the Tampa Bay Rays and Cincinnati Reds. The Dodgers will send catcher Hunter Feduccia to Tampa Bay and receive left-hander Adam Serwinowski, right-hander Paul Gervase, and catcher Ben Rortvedt in return.

Full trade breakdown:

  • Dodgers receive: LHP Adam Serwinowski, RHP Paul Gervase, C Ben Rortvedt
  • Rays receive: C Hunter Feduccia, RHP Brian Van Belle
  • Reds receive: RHP Zack Littell

For the Dodgers, this deal requires parting with only one player, Feduccia, while bringing in three assets who add depth to the organization.

Of the trio, Paul Gervase seems to be the most MLB-ready. The 25-year-old right-hander was a 12th-round pick by the Mets in 2022 and has already pitched 6.1 big-league innings, posting a 4.26 ERA. At Triple-A this year, he’s been more impressive, recording 63 strikeouts and a 3.12 ERA over 40.1 innings.

Ben Rortvedt, 27, enhances the Dodgers’ catching depth. He has struggled offensively in limited MLB appearances this season, batting just .095 with a .297 OPS over 26 games. In his 209-game MLB career, Rortvedt holds a .186 batting average and a .540 OPS. Originally a second-round pick by the Twins in 2016, he’s expected to serve as additional depth behind Will Smith and Dalton Rushing.

Adam Serwinowski, 21, is a long-term project. The former 12th-round pick by Cincinnati in 2022 has made 17 starts at the High-A level this season, posting a 4.84 ERA and 92 strikeouts in 74.1 innings. While still a few years away from the majors, he provides the Dodgers with another young arm to develop within their pitching pipeline.
