Dodgers News: Dodgers Add Catcher Seby Zavala, Reliever Jordan Weems on Minor League Deals
Zavala and Weems bring MLB experience to the Dodgers’ growing spring training group.

LOS ANGELES, CA—Yesterday, the defending World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers offically announced their entire non-roster invitees to spring training, which is set to kick off this week in Glendale, Arizona.
Overall, the Dodgers invited 32 players, and while there are many familiar names, from top prospects to minor leaguers who’ve been with the organization for several years, we also have a few players who inked minor league deals this winter that went unreported.
Of that group, we learned that the Dodgers have signed catcher Seby Zavala and right-handed reliever Jordan Weems to minor-league deals.
Weems, 33, is a right-hander with six straight MLB seasons under his belt. He made just four appearances for the Astros last year, giving up seven runs in 4.1 innings, and now owns a 5.51 career ERA over 160 innings. Most of his 2025 campaign came in Triple-A with Houston and Atlanta, where he posted a 4.44 ERA, a 24% strikeout rate, and an 11.2% walk rate.
Zavala, 32, is a right-handed-hitting catcher who joins Chuckie Robinson as an MLB-experienced non-roster option. Known more for his defense, he’s hit .205/.271/.342 over 194 career games. Last season in Triple-A with Boston, he posted a .164/.273/.333 line with a 36% strikeout rate.
The veteran catcher will join a hefty group which now features Ben Rorrtvedt, who was recalled earlier this month by Los Angeles off waivers from the Cincinnati Reds.
