Dodgers News: Dodgers Claim Mike Siani; Andy Ibáñez DFA’d
L.A. reclaims speedy outfielder Mike Siani while DFA’ing Andy Ibáñez in latest roster shuffle.

LOS ANGELES, CA—Déjà vu, anyone? Earlier today, the Los Angeles Dodgers announced that they have claimed recently DFA’d outfielder Mike Siani off waivers from the New York Yankees.
In order to make room on the 40-man roster, the Dodgers DFA’d utility infielder Andy Ibáñez.
Siani, 26, was a part of the Dodgers organization for most of the early winter, having been claimed off waivers after being DFA’d by the Atlanta Braves shortly after the conclusion of the 2025 World Series.
Siani would remain on the 40-man roster until mid-January, where he would then be placed in DFA limbo again after the Dodgers made their signing of All-Star outfielder Kyle Tucker official.
In 160 career major league games with the Cincinnati Reds and St. Louis Cardinals from 2022-25, Siani slashed .221/.277/.270 and has a career 58 wRC+, but is one of the more well-regarded defensive players in the sport.
During the 2024 season, Siani posted a combined 16 OAA in center field and ranked in the 76th percentile in spring speed, but his lackluster performance at the plate kept him in the minor leagues for most of 2025.
Siani would then be claimed by the Yankees shortly after, until meeting the same fate when the Bronx Bombers announced their re-signing of outfielder Cody Bellinger.
Andy Ibáñez DFA’d
Despite the Dodgers inking Ibáñez to a guaranteed 1-year, $1.2 million contract earlier in the offseason, where the utility infielder figured to be a massive player on the bench at the start of the season, the team opted to move on from him.
Ibáñez became a free agent this offseason after being non-tendered by the Detroit Tigers. He spent the previous three seasons with the Tigers, posting a combined .251/.304/.392 batting line with 20 home runs, 94 RBIs, and a 93 wRC+ over 304 games.
However, unlike Siani, Ibáñez did not provide the Dodgers with much roster flexibility, as the 32-year-old was out of minor-league options and his spot on the Dodgers’ 26-man roster was not guaranteed.
