Dodgers News: Dodgers Claim RHP Yoendrys Gómez from Yankees

The Los Angeles Dodgers have acquired right-handed pitcher Yoendrys Gómez, claiming him off waivers from the New York Yankees. The move comes after the Yankees recently designated Gómez for assignment in a roster shuffle.

Thanks to a vacant spot on their 40-man roster created by the recent designation of outfielder Eddie Rosario, the Dodgers were able to bring Gómez aboard without making any immediate corresponding moves. However, with Gómez out of minor league options, he will need to be added to the Dodgers’ 26-man active roster once he reports to the team.

A promising arm in the Yankees’ minor league system, Gómez made his MLB debut in 2023, showcasing his potential with two scoreless innings in relief. Throughout his minor league career, he’s accumulated a solid 3.49 ERA over seven seasons, predominantly starting games.

Despite some injury setbacks, the 24-year-old remains a player with upside, and the Dodgers could utilize him in multiple ways, potentially as a long reliever or as a spot starter.
