Dodgers News: Dodgers Exercise Muncy’s Club Option
The Dodgers have picked up Max Muncy's $10 million club option

LOS ANGELES, CA—The Los Angeles Dodgers have reportedly exercised their one-year, $10 million club option on veteran third baseman Max Muncy, bringing him back for the 2026 season, per Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic.
Muncy, 35, had an injury-plagued 2025 season, suffering a knee injury in July and a minor oblique strain during the final month of the regular season.
Still, despite the time missed, Muncy has a very solid year at the plate, slashing .243/.376/.470 with a 137 wRC+ and hitting 19 home runs in 100 games this season.
Muncy will enter his age-36 season, having spent the last eight seasons with Los Angeles and now the franchise’s all-time leader in postseason home runs after hitting three longballs this past October.
The decision to pick up Muncy’s option was never in question, as the production he gives the team is well worth the $10 million salary for the upcoming season.
The team also does not have any internal replacements for Muncy’s left-handed bat at third base, and while Alex Freeland got a cup of tea at the major league level this past season, he only hit .190 with a 73 wRC+ in 97 plate appearances.
