Dodgers News: Dodgers Ink Ryder Ryan to Minor League Contract, Reuniting Him with Brother River
The veteran reliever joins Los Angeles for organizational depth, linking up with his younger brother in the Dodgers’ system.

LOS ANGELES, CA—With spring training just around the corner and the 2026 Major League Baseball offseason coming to a close, the Los Angeles Dodgers are putting the finishing touches on their roster, including some additional minor league depth.
That especially holds true in the pitching department, as The Athletic’s Fabian Ardaya reports that the Dodgers have signed free-agent right-hander Ryder Ryan to a minor-league deal. Ryder is the brother of top Dodgers pitching prospect River Ryan.
The deal, according to Ardaya, could reach $800,000 in totality if the righty reaches the majors.
Ryder Ryan, 29, spent the entire 2025 season with Triple-A Indianapolis in the Pirates’ system, finishing with a 4.79 ERA and 1.35 WHIP over 71.1 innings. His overall numbers — including a modest 61 strikeouts against 38 walks — don’t particularly stand out. He’s likely bound for Triple-A Oklahoma City to open 2026, where he’ll provide organizational pitching depth rather than project as a bullpen difference-maker.
Ryan will likely be a non-roster invitee to spring training and possibly compete for a bullpen spot at the start of the season. If not, he’ll likely serve as depth and start the season in Triple-A with his brother as he completes his rehab.
