Dodgers News: Yoshinobu Yamamoto Stays Focused on Team Wins After Another Strong Start

SAN FRANCISCO, CA—Yoshinobu Yamamoto was asked after Friday’s game in San Francisco if it was frustrating to pitch well but not come away with a win. His answer made it clear where his priorities are.

“For me personally, not at all,” Yamamoto said. “But of course, as a team we absolutely need wins right now. So it’s frustrating that we couldn’t finish this one off. Still, the only thing we can do is look forward. All of us need to move on quickly and be ready to win tomorrow’s game.”

Yamamoto has certainly done his part. On September 6 in Baltimore, he carried a no-hitter into the ninth before finishing 8.2 innings of one-run ball, striking out 10 while walking two. Then on September 12 in San Francisco, he was sharp again, going seven innings and allowing just one run on one hit with 10 strikeouts.

Both outings were dominant, but the Dodgers couldn’t turn either into a victory. Still, Yamamoto made it clear it’s not about personal stats or frustration — it’s about the team finding ways to win as they push toward October.
