Dodgers News: Dodgers Open to Keeping Six-Man Rotation in 2026

Following their strong performance in the second half of the 2025 regular season, the Dodgers are contemplating maintaining a six-man rotation for the upcoming season, according to Brandon Gomes.

LOS ANGELES, CA—The Los Angeles Dodgers’ starting rotation from the second half to the end of October was the team’s greatest strength, and fourthly, for them, all of those arms minus veteran left-hander Clayton Kershaw will be returning for the 2026 season.

However, with Roki Sasaki, Gavin Stone, and River Ryan all expected to be returning as starters next season, and the return of Blake Snell, Emmet Sheen, Shohei Ohtani, Tyler Glasnow, and Yoshinobu Yamamoto, the Dodgers are open to the idea of keeping a six-man rotation moving forward, per General Manager Brandon Gomes.

In an interview with Jeff Fletcher of the Southern California News Group, the team will consider sticking with that same plan for the upcoming season, depending on the team’s other rooms that have yet to be made this winter.

Gomes said he’s also not certain if the Dodgers will stick with a six-man rotation. “It’s certainly on the table, but it depends how things shake out,” Gomes said.

Despite Kershaw’s retirement, Gonsolin hitting free agency, and potential offseason additions, the Dodgers are expected to have a competitive group of starting pitchers in 2026.

With the Dodgers’ surplus of pitching, we could see the team trade away from that depth this winter to address other roster needs, such as the bullpen or an outfielder, with the team already linked to Cleveland Guardians outfielder Steven Kwan.

If all arms remain with the organization, the Dodgers will have to get creative to find enough innings and opportunities for their starters in 2026, a good problem to have, especially for a team that has struggled with the injury bug over the last several years.
