Dodgers News: Dodgers Aquire Esteury Ruiz from Athletics; Kyle Hurt Transferred to 60-Day IL to Make Room on 40-Man

According to Alden Gonzalez of ESPN, the Los Angeles Dodgers have acquired Esteury Ruiz from the Athletics who was DFA’d by the club three days ago.

Ruiz stole an AL-leading 67 base in 2023 and has options. He will be sent to Dodgers Triple-A Affiliate Oklahoma City Comets.

Ruiz is a 26-year-old from the Dominican Republic. He was drafted by the Kansas City Royals in 2015 and was traded to the Padres in 2017. Ruiz spent five years in the Padres minor league system before being traded to the Brewers in 2022. Ruiz was traded to the Athletics in 2022, he played for their Triple-A team before being moved to the Majors.

Ruiz has spent some time on the IL with a right shoulder subluxation and two strained left wrist injuries.
